2007 Spring Dashboard Updates! (Yup, plural…)
It’s time for an unhealthy dose of feature requests, sprinkled liberally with unreasonable ex
pectations! It seemed
best that I have two lists of features, one for the 360 and one for the PS3, as they both have a similar release schedule (the oh-so-accurate "Spring") for their updates. (I have heard rumor that the PS3 update will be in March…)
Without further adieu, let us begin:
Xbox 360 Top Five Feature Requests:
1. - Downloadable Codec Support (audio and video)
2. - Integrated Media Player (unified controls in both Music and Video Players)
3. - Organization structure ("folders") for Friends List
4. - Clan Support (integrated with #3)
5. - Events Calendar (both personal items and Microsoft events; also future invites for matches and such)
There are certainly a few small items I’d love to see (playlists saveable for network content, Active Download option on main blade of Xbox Guide, and a couple others), but those would be the majors.
PS3 Top Five Feature Requests:
1. - Background…Downloading!!!
2. - Multitasked music
3. - Personalized XMB (wallpapers, etc.)
4. - Network support for content streamed from PCs
5. - Downloadable Codec Support (audio and video)
I am really excited to see what Sony in particular brings to the table with this update. As much as I love my 360, I do feel like we have a better chance of seeing the Sony items crossed off the list first. Keeping my fingers crossed, though! (I might have to drop "Major Nelson" a quick email to nudge him about these features…)
What features would you like to see integrated into your console’s dashboard?
