There’s a new way to share your files today, and its name is Skydrive (beta). Microsoft announced the public beta today of their new Windows Live service. The application currently offers 500mb of online storage through Windows Live.
While other services exist that give you remote storage, Skydrive offers a slick interface and a couple of nice features. First, with Skydrive you can share your files with specific Live users, the public, or nobody at all. Second, for bloggers and web developers, you can embed access to those files through HTML. Finally, Skydrive gives you the option of drag-and-drop uploading into your browser, so you can dump heaps of precious documents photos, etc… into your Skydrive at a time. The interface also offers a thumbnail view, which makes this service ideal for sharing and storing photos and media.
More information on the beta is available at the SkyDrive team’s blog: http://skydriveteam.spaces.live.com/
So far, my impression is: "neat." I don’t really have too much more to say about it just yet. It seems like the limited storage is the only downside at this point. Anyone have any public folders they’d care to share with the wide world of Interscription?
