So, the downside of working for a living and having a wonderful new woman in my life is that sometimes, release dates for games I’ve held quiet vigils for for an alarming amount of time, slip by me. When I realized yesterday during the day that Spore had been released on Sunday and I was at work - it was a bad bad time.
On the other hand I was thrilled to find out that EA was offering up my undoing via digital download. Needless to say, this is how I purchased the game (Steam had never done me wrong I thought). Here’s about how it went:

Check out their press release for full details.
There are several cool features in here, most of which make me strongly consider purchasing a Zune player (my “Young Buck”-branded iPod Photo is a tank, though!), including wireless Marketplace integration on the player, Buy from FM functionalilty, and the ability to download Audiobooks and Games for your Zune player. I’d already played through Braid (which is a beautifully conceived game), and had on deck Madden 09, NBA Live 09, and the XBLA game: Pirates v. Ninjas dodgeball. My experiences with these three demos could not have been more different.
…they are tricky. Resident genius and sarcastic Californian Hillary Goldstein casually mentioned that Microsoft will be stopping by the IGN offices to demonstrate the New Xbox Experience this week!
Check out their podcast for some hilarity and the soundbyte (at the very end of the podcast).
