Bioshock on the 360 was an absolutely fantastic game. Great story, it played well, and it looked awesome. So, when the teaser for Bioshock 2 came along, I was quite excited, and nervous at the same time. Excited because I look forward to a continuation of the story of Rapture. Nervous because I’m hoping that they’ll avoid the “Sophomore Slump” that tend to plague sequels. I’m really looking forward to the next issue of Game Informer, because of this cover that shows us a glimpse of a new enemy, the Big Sister. I’m guessing the Big Sisters will be faster and more agile than their lumbering Big Daddy counterparts. Of course, once they got rolling, the Big Daddies were pretty fast, so that’s a frightening concept. Seems that GI has a 10-page story about Bioshock 2, so I’m looking forward to reading that.
I’m very interested to see what kind of story we can look forward to in the sequel. Since the story and the atmosphere were the things that elevated the first game from being another FPS with the added perk of “magical” abilities, I’m sure the dev team will be focusing on those elements again. The question is, what kind of story are we going to get this time? Is it a prequel, or is it set an indeterminate amount of time after the end of the first game in an even more decayed and rotting version of Rapture? My guess is the latter, but what do I know? Anyway, I’m really hoping to see a good continuation of the original story, but then, I’m a story junkie. At any rate, I just felt the need to jot all of this down before I become consumed by Resident Evil 5 this weekend.
Without further ado, the image…
