A return to fun, it would seem…

I remember my stepbrother and I pooling our money and buying a Dreamcast (before the appearance and eventual dominance of the PS2).  For us, it was a great purchase, since we were dropping $5 each a couple of times a week on Soul Calibur in the arcade.  The other title we picked up with the system was the Sonic Adventure launch title.  I distinctly remember the opening level, especially the pier-smashing killer whale and insane THREE-DEE loop-the-loops!  Since that time, no other Sonic game has really captured that sense of whimsy and fun that the original had.  It would seem, though, that the new Sonic Unleashed title is a return to form.  Judge for yourself:

“It’s good to play together.”

Ozymandias wrote an interesting article awhile back regarding co-op and how it should (and should not) be implemented in this age of connected experiences.  Recently, 1UP interviewed him and explored this idea further.  Check out the interview for a more rounded explaination.

A little better?

Recently, I had posted about what I thought to be a terribly unimaginative motion controller plan for the Xbox 360 from the powers that be.  Recently, Teamxbox posted a follow-up story to the initial speculation, and I wanted to make sure to pass this along.

You Got Wii on my 360!

I’m sure you’ve heard at least a small bit of rumbling about this lately, but this article seems to be the one to best capture the current state of the rumors that Microsoft is in fact creating a Wii-like wand controller for the Xbox 360.  I’m praying to whatever Gods will listen to me that this isn’t going to happen, but it would seem the source hasn’t been wrong yet…

Back from Sabbatical… Or not?

My recent writers/image posting block has been temporarily been lifted to bring you this Amazing video of awesome.. It Answers the Burning question if it is in fact possible to have the ability to play Your favorite 360 games with the WiiMote. . That question has indeed been answered with the XIM (Xbox 360 Input  Machine).  It is the brain child of some resourceful lad and demonstrated for you with the Magic of YouTube. While this Item is a MacGuyver-esque home brewed invention it does indeed prove that the impossible can be made possible. Yes Virgina, there is a Santa Claus and He’s playing Halo 2.

Wii Bash 2007

For my first posting on Interscription I will open up with an article detailing my complete disgust toward Nintendo and their Wii system.  I find the Wii to be a disgrace to all that is gaming. It’s rapid sales and world wide dominance is only a testament to how idiotic people can be. The minute you make this statement, millions will argue that 8.2 million people can’t be wrong. Well, I disagree.  Look at how many people bought Brittany Spears albums and you can see that Millions upon Millions of people can be very, very, very wrong. I have no problem with the purchase of a Wii for any child under the age of 13. Also, if you are a soccer mom over the age of 45 the Wii is most likely the system for you. As for everyone else in between, I hope you are a 13 year old school girl, in which case I can let it slide. The Wii as a platform is good for one thing, and one thing only. You buy it, spend the extra $50 to mod it, then never by another game for it for all eternity.

Need a calendar for your console?

Posted on October 2nd, 2006 in IntEnt, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 by dragonwyntir

I have a few minutes at my "real job" to put up a post, so I figured I would send out a question or two to the masses:

What type of interactive, "worldly" features would you like to see with your console?

Perhaps:
1. - A calendar of upcoming events, demo rele
2. - Leave a note for someone else.
3. - Streaming media, anyone?

Do you think these features are going to make-or-break the next generation of gaming?

Wii don’t like naysayers.

Well, we do like nay-sayers, for example, Sony has announced a price cut of the ps3 in the Japanese market…  before the console has even been released.  Microsoft added concurrent downloading to it’s 360 dashboard, although Uwe Bole is still making movies.  Naysaying keeps the gaming world afloat.

It’s because of this that I wanted to take a look at the article by Adam Frucci, that has been incensing some of the Wii  fanboys, who are in a round the clock vigil awaiting the launch of one of the most interesting console offerings in the last 10 years.

If you’ve been remotely interested or involved in PC Gaming, a little gem known as Half-Life has probably popped into your gaming world.  I can recall some truly fond memories of the original Half-Life, with A.I. that truly emphasized Intelligence of the enemies.  I remember feeling as though I was part of the actual Black Mesa struggle for survival, with beings experiencing the same hardships I was going through.

wii are the knights that say….

Just a quick post to stay on top of this… nintendo’s conference just concluded, and I have to say, lackluster graphics aside, I’m very impressed with their offering.  Like they did with the DS, they’re taking an innovative step forward within the confines of proven stability.  The controller looks robust, and a whole lot more fun than a gimmick.  There is motion sensing in the nunchuck portion as well as the wiimote, and a built in speaker in the controller (in addition to rumble) for added immersion.   That, and the games look very fun, and very easy to pick up and party with.

Will try to look at this a little more in depth later, but first to wait patiently for microsoft’s moment in the sun.
